Getting here

Then as now, the most beautiful route to the south: The Felbertauernstraße

If you want to start your vacation stress-free, you should choose the Felbertauernstrasse for trips to East Tyrol, Carinthia, Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. Since 1967, car and motorcycle drivers as well as campers have been using the route over the main Alpine ridge as an inexpensive and congestion-free alternative to other highways. The 36-kilometer Alpine highway between Mittersill and Matrei in East Tyrol, interrupted by only one tunnel, leads through the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, past 30 three-thousand-meter peaks, and is therefore considered the most scenic route. This means that all drivers heading south can extend their vacation by the day of arrival – according to the motto “amazing instead of congested.” Because the journey is the destination.
